Ingredients:		2 ¼ cups bread crumbs or graham cracker crumbs 3 T. melted butter 4 medium-sized apples, cored and sliced 1 T. lemon juice ½ tsp. grated lemon rind ½ cup brown sugar ⅓ cup hot water
Directions: Combine crumbs and butter, stir over low heat until lightly browned. Place one-third in a greased baking dish. Arrange half the apple slices in a layer over the crumbs. Sprinkle with half the lemon juice, rind, and sugar. Add second layer of one-third of the crumbs and remaining apples, lemon juice, rind, and sugar. Cover with remaining one-third of the crumbs. Pour water over. Bake in 375-degree oven until apples are tender (30-40 minutes). Serve warm with sauce of your choice or with vanilla ice cream.
